The benefits of dermal fillers
Women and men lose facial fat volume as a natural part of aging. Lines and wrinkles appear in the face after volume is lost, as the muscles are working closer to the skin surface. As collagen diminishes, the skin loses elasticity and the effects of aging begin to show. At the office of Dr Evan Beale, we perform facial filler injections to help restore volume to the face and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and folds. We use dermal fillers in Dallas to:
- Plump up the lips
- Smooth vertical lines around the mouth
- Reduce shadows around the eyes
- Soften creases and wrinkles
- Improve the appearance of recessed scars
- Augment the cheeks
- Enhance shallow contours
- Fill in nasolabial folds
- Minimize marionette lines
Hyaluronic acid facial fillers
Several leading facial fillers today are made with hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the skin. Juvéderm, Restylane, and other hyaluronic acid facial fillers attract moisture to the skin, improve skin tone, and help create a smooth, supple, more youthful facial appearance.

What are Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable serums that help to plump the tissues and add volume to different areas of the face. They are used to fill areas that have lost tissue either through weight loss or the aging process. Different dermal fillers act on the tissues in different ways. Most will stimulate the production of elastin and collagen to help the skin remain flexible and toned. Tightening and toning the tissues gives the skin a more youthful appearance and reduces many of the signs of aging, including wrinkles, creases, lines, and hollow that can make a person look gaunt and older than their years.
What Types of Fillers are Available?
A few of the most common dermal fillers include Radiesse®, Sculptra®, Juvederm®, Voluma®, and Restylane®. As the most popular dermal fillers, these brands are well known for their effectiveness at improving both the look and texture of the skin and tissues. They have very few side effects and many are known to last for six to nine months, especially if treatments are scheduled close enough for the benefits of each procedure to overlap. Dermal fillers are effective at providing sustained results on a long-term basis without fear of side effects or further damage to the skin. Each filler is unique and should be considered according to the individual needs of the patient.
Do Fillers Have Side Effects?
Dermal fillers may produce mild side effects such as inflammation, tenderness at the injection site, and mild bruising. The initial side effects will gradually begin to disappear within a few hours after the procedure. Other side effects include warmth that radiates throughout the treatment area, as well as mild pain and discomfort as the serum begins to spread through the tissues. In most cases, these side effects are very mild and will only be noticeable for one or two days after the procedure. Any side effects that are apparent after the first few days should be immediately reported to the physician who performed the procedure.
