Unfortunately, for many women, simply exercising and eating right will not restore the body to its pre-pregnancy appearance. For this reason, many women opt for a “Mommy Makeover.” Dr. Beale is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has honed his exceptional skills in cosmetic surgery for years. He has gained renown in the community due to excellent results from Mommy Makeovers in Dallas.
What is a mommy makeover?
A Mommy Makeover is a customized combination of procedures designed to restore your body to a more youthful and toned appearance. Many times, more than one procedure can be done during the same surgical session during your Mommy Makeover. This prevents you from undergoing anesthesia more than necessary and can also reduce the amount of time you spend in recovery.
The breasts and abdomen are often the focus of a Mommy Makeover. However, Dr. Beale will include any necessary procedure to address your needs. Some common areas addressed beside the breasts and abdomen are fat deposits on the thighs, hips and buttocks, pigment changes or new wrinkles in the face, or a prominent C-section scar.
Dr. Beale will work with you to understand exactly what has changed about your body that you would like to reverse, and how you would like to enhance your physique to feel rejuvenated and confident with your figure as a mother.
What does a mommy makeover consist of?
Mothers can choose among a wide list of procedures offered by Dr. Beale. Depending upon your expectations, you will be guided by a team of highly skilled experts along with Dr. Beale when choosing the best services that fit your needs. A Mommy Makeover can be a combination of surgical and non-invasive procedures, or solely surgical.
Mommy Makeover Procedures
- Breast Lift
Many mothers consider a breast lift to raise the breasts to a higher placement on the chest and correct any breast asymmetries.
- Breast Augmentation
Lost volume after breastfeeding often causes the breasts to look smaller. This is corrected with breast implants or fat augmentation to create a pleasing shape and size.
- Breast Augmentation with Lift
This surgery combination can be done concurrently to lift, enhance and rejuvenate the breasts.
- Breast Reduction
Some women experience significant breast growth after breastfeeding is complete. A breast reduction can be done to create smaller, more comfortable and proportional breasts.
Pregnancy can create localized pockets of fat on the body that do not respond to diet and exercise, which can be removed through the use of a small incision and suction.
- Tummy Tuck
Pregnancy frequently causes the abdominal muscles to stretch so that the belly becomes lax and round. Diet and exercise will often not correct this condition, but a tummy tuck will tighten the muscles and remove excess fat and skin to flatten the tummy.
- Eyelid Surgery
A blepharoplasty can bring the eyes out of hiding by correcting overhanging upper eyelids as well as bags under the eyes.
- Brow Lift
The wrinkles and stress lines from sleepless nights can be smoothed with a brow lift, which raises sagging eyebrows and reduces forehead creases.
- C-section scar revision
A C-section delivery can leave a prominent scar which can be revised to improve its appearance.
BOTOX® is an injectable, non-surgical treatment to smooth lines and wrinkles, such as frown lines and crow’s feet.
- Dermal Fillers
These non-surgical injections replace lost volume in the face, providing youthful fullness and rejuvenation.

What to expect during your mommy makeover
A mommy makeover surgery is performed under general anesthesia. It will last between 1.5-6 hours, depending on which procedures are being done.
Based on the type of implant you choose, incisions are made either at the crease beneath the breasts, around the areola or within the natural folds of the armpit. Once the incision is made, the implants will be placed exactly. If a lift is also being done, Dr. Beale will raise the breasts higher on the chest wall and remove any excess skin or tissue. He will make the areola smaller and tilt the nipples upward to give the breasts a perky appearance.
If you’re having a breast reduction, the incision will be made either around the areola or in the crease under the breast, then up to the nipple, or the incision will be around the areola and down to the base of the breast. Through the incision, he will remove the excess fat and tissue, then reshape the breasts into a smaller, more attractive shape.
Dr. Beale will make a long, horizontal incision between your hip bones, low enough so that the scar can be hidden in the bikini line. He will pull the abdominal wall muscles together with sutures to create a tight, firm abdomen. Your abdominal skin and fat are then carefully pulled down over the incision line, and the excess skin and fat are removed.
Dr. Beale will make a very small incision in the targeted area. Then he will inject fluid to provide anesthesia and limit blood loss. He will insert a small, hollow tube called a cannula to suction out fat and liquid.
Recovery from mommy makeover
Much like you, your Mommy Makeover will be unique. Recovery from your Mommy Makeover will depend on the surgeries and non-surgical procedures you have selected.
After your Mommy Makeover, Dr. Beale will keep a close eye on you during your recovery and will help guide you through all the steps of a successful recovery. Dr. Beale approaches each procedure with a dedication to uncompromising safety, and he’ll apply that same dedication to your recovery from the Mommy Makeover.
After your procedures, you will have surgical binders or garments to help reduce swelling, and you may have drains around your abdomen. In three or four days, Dr. Beale will want to see you again to check on your healing. He will remove any drains and advise on how long you should wear the compression garments.
You will be able to return to work and light exercise after breast surgery or liposuction in about a week. The tummy tuck recovery is longer, taking about two weeks.
By 3-6 months after surgery, you will be able to fully enjoy the final results and will be completely healed.
