What Is a Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift is a surgical cosmetic procedure used to tighten the skin around the lower face, jawline, and neck. The surgery also reduces fine lines and wrinkles to create smoother facial skin. When compared to a traditional facelift, a mini facelift requires smaller incisions and provides subtler results.

How Is a Mini Facelift Performed?

During a mini facelift, Dr Beale makes incisions in front of the ears. He then uses these incisions to pull the tissue upward and back toward the ears to reduce sagging skin, wrinkles, and jowls. In addition to the skin, the underlying muscular system of the face is adjusted to achieve natural-looking, long-lasting results.

Benefits of a Mini Facelift

A mini facelift can provide patients with a variety of benefits:

  • Smoother, tighter facial skin
  • More defined jawline
  • Reduced fine lines and wrinkles
  • More youthful-looking lower face and neck
  • Shorter recovery time than a traditional facelift
  • Less scarring than a traditional facelift
  • Increased self-esteem

What Should I Expect During the Surgery?

If you’re considering a mini facelift, the first step is to have a consultation with Dr Beale. During this meeting, the doctor will discuss the procedure with you, answer any questions you have, and gain an understanding of your cosmetic goals. If you choose to proceed with the surgery, Dr Beale will put together a treatment plan that fits your personal needs.

Typically, a mini facelift is performed as an outpatient procedure using IV sedation and local anesthesia. To begin, Dr Beale will make the necessary incisions, which will run from the bottom of the earlobes to the hairline behind the ears. Next, he will pull and adjust the tissue of the lower face and secure it into place using sutures. Finally, he will trim any excess skin and bandage the treatment areas to complete the procedure. On average, a mini facelift takes one to two hours.

How Long Is the Recovery Time?

You’ll likely experience some swelling and bruising after your mini facelift, and you’ll need to sleep in an upright position for several days. Most patients need one to two weeks of rest before returning to work and four to six weeks before resuming strenuous exercise.
